Exane wire and cable products have to date been used in over 15,000 new and rebuilt locomotives - and performed flawlessly!
For GE locomotives in particular, Exane has established a detailed specification (DAA 1097) which covers the exact GE requirements for a 125 deg cross-linked polyolefin cable insulation.
The GE wire and cable specifications (600 and 2000 Volt) contain conductor and insulation requirements necessary to meet stringent GE locomotive operating conditions including heat, ampacity and flexibility.
Exane Diesel Cable is a tough, flame resistant construction quality suited for rugged, railroad diesel electric locomotive applications. It has a high temperature rating yet will not crack at a temperature down to -55 deg Celsius. Exane diesel locomotive cable has much better resistance to cut-through, crush and scrape abrasion than rubber. It is also more flexible and has better overload characteristics than fluoropolymers. Exane has good moisture and oil resistance, excellent fire resistance, low smoke and acid gas generation characteristics, and resists stress cracking.
Cables can be supplied in bulk reels or cut to length. We have a complete cross reference of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) part numbers for Alco, General Motors - EMD Division and GE locomotive applications.
